Take control of your metabolic and cardiovascular health with Farxiga® (dapagliflozin), a once-daily prescription oral medication. Belonging to the class of medications known as sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, Farxiga works completely independently of insulin. By targeting the kidneys, it filters excess sugar out of the bloodstream and disposes of it naturally through urination.
Farxiga is uniquely versatile, delivering clinically proven benefits across three major areas: lowering HbA1c in adults with type 2 diabetes, reducing the risk of hospitalization for heart failure, and slowing the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Key Features & Benefits
-
Triple-Action Health Support: Effectively manages blood sugar, protects the kidneys from declining function, and reduces strain on the cardiovascular system.
-
Insulin-Independent Action: Lowers glucose levels by prompting the kidneys to excrete sugar through urine, minimizing the risk of low blood sugar spikes when used alone.
-
Cardiovascular and Renal Defense: Significantly decreases the risk of cardiovascular death and heart failure hospitalization, while reducing the risk of sustained eGFR decline in patients with kidney disease.
-
Simple Once-Daily Routine: A convenient oral tablet taken once a day, in the morning, completely independent of meal timing.
Dosing & Strength Options
Farxiga tablets are small, yellow, diamond-shaped, and film-coated. They are typically supplied in standard 30-day or 90-day prescription bottles.

Administration & Storage Instructions
-
Daily Routine: Take your tablet by mouth once daily in the morning, with or without food. Swallowing the tablet at the same time each day helps maintain consistent medication levels in your system.
-
Hydration is Key: Because Farxiga removes sugar and excess fluid through urination, it is highly recommended to stay properly hydrated throughout the day unless otherwise directed by a doctor.
-
Storage Environment: Keep the bottle tightly closed to protect the tablets from moisture. Store at room temperature between 68°F–77°F (20°C–25°C).
Important Safety & Prescription Notice: Prescription Required (Rx Only). Farxiga® can increase the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) and yeast infections due to increased sugar in the urine. Serious but rare risks include ketoacidosis (a serious medical condition requiring immediate hospitalization) and severe dehydration/low blood pressure. Farxiga is not indicated for the treatment of type 1 diabetes. Patients with severe kidney impairment or those on dialysis should consult their doctor, as dosing depends heavily on renal function baseline metrics. All health adjustments must be strictly managed by a healthcare provider.
